Legends greeted with selfies, street parties and impromptu penalty shoot-outs as they deliver Aston Villa’s new kit on a Sunday
With less than a week to go before the launch of DPD’s full nationwide Sunday delivery service, six European Cup winning legends have completed some very special Sunday deliveries.
One hundred Aston Villa fans had a Sunday to remember when six Villa legends from the 1982 European Cup winning team – Gordon Cowans, Gary Shaw, Tony Morley, Kenny Swain, Ken McNaught and Colin Gibson – turned up on doorsteps across Birmingham in uniquely liveried DPD vans, to personally deliver the club’s new away shirts to competition winners.
The players were greeted by fans in the street, houses bedecked in claret and blue and friends, family and neighbours enjoying the party atmosphere. The amazing scenes were captured on the Twitter hashtag #ThePerfectSunday and included the inevitable selfies, dads grabbing an autograph or a photo with their hero and kids taking on the legends in penalty shoot-outs.
