Please could you give a brief outline as to your experience; has this evolved within the logistics industry?
I have been a CIO/IT Director managing the IT function of a large retail and wholesale business for many years, through which I recently spent 5 years in Moscow, Russia, at one of the largest CE (consumer electronics) retailers in Eastern Europe. Prior to that, three years at MFI, the UK’s leading furniture retailer at the time and before five years at Booker, a large UK based cash & carry wholesaler.
All fast moving and very innovative businesses within their individual market segments.
So, not directly logistics, but all had large and complex supply chains that were very systems reliant and required constant innovation to remain both efficient and competitive. The operation in Russia for example, supported a supply chain that covered 1000 square miles, with over 60 distribution centres, supplying 340 large stores.
